Vinzons is a third class municipality composed of 19 barangays with a total land area of 9060 hectares or a total of 90.60 square kilometers, composing 4.12 per cent of the total land area of Camarines Norte. The town is included in the 2nd district of the province which is a Bicol speaking towns/district of Camarines Norte. Bounded on the northeast by the Philippine Sea, it is situated 343 kilometers southeast of Manila.Based from the 2007 census, it has a population of 39, 653 in 7, 407 households. The town’s first known name is Tacboan and after sometime it is changed into Indan then later into “Vinzons” in honor of the former Governor Wenceslao Q. Vinzons.
Tagalog is the common dialect spoken by Vinzonians who annually celebrates the birth anniversary of Wenceslao Q. Vinzons, Sr. for his heroic deeds and insurmountable accomplishments. Likewise, Vinzons is known for making exquisite delicacies like the angko, hinalo, pandecillos, pili tart, kinakaw and other “kutkutin”.
Vinzons is known in the province for producing the most number of elected officials in the provincial level. Moreover, its educational institutions are regarded as one of the high performing schools if not the best school in Camarines Norte. With strong educational foundation of Vinzonians, many settle prominent and excel in various fields.
